Mission and Vision
The Center for Health Services Research is a
research unit within the
Henry Ford Health System.
Mission:
The Center for Health Services Research
investigates ways to improve the quality, efficiency and equity
of health care.
Vision:
To achieve excellence in health services
research and improve human life by applying and disseminating
knowledge gained. We seek to disseminate our findings through
publication in peer-reviewed journals, presentation at national
and local scientific meetings and other media. Our aim is to
have the knowledge gained from our research benefit and general
population, including those served by the Henry Ford Health
System, and shape tomorrow's national health services research
agenda. We strive to provide objective, incisive analyses that
facilitate sound decision-making regarding the delivery and
receipt of health care.
Research Activities
Much of the work within the Center for Health
Services Research focuses on explorations related to the
prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of chronic
conditions, and cancer. The former includes cardiovascular
diseases (such as hypertension and lipid disorders),
neurological disorders (such as migraine and multiple sclerosis)
as well as asthma and diabetes. We also routinely conduct
research related to both provider and patient adherence, racial
disparities, and quality improvement, including patient safety.
We use epidemiological studies, clinical trials,
cost-effectiveness analyses, and demonstrations and evaluations
to achieve our research goals. Our primary research laboratory
consists of the many diverse populations and settings of the
Henry Ford Health System. Our research efforts have been
supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health,
Department of Defense, Agency for Health Care Research and
Quality, Centers for Disease Control, BCBS of Michigan's
Healthcare Research Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Industry and the Fund for Henry
Ford Hospital.
